Type of roast affects coffee taste
E Espresso and French roasted coffee are popular, but if you don't use an espresso machine, they may not be your best choice. Try a lighter roast. You will then taste the flavor of the specific bean you use, rather than have it overpowered by the roast. Now that you can taste the bean's individual characteristics, experiment a little. Compare a dark, rich Sumatran Mandeling to a light, brassy Yemen Mocha. There's a whole world of coffee out there to enjoy.
