How to communicate with your pre-teens
Start this new routine tonight. When It's bedtime, lay with them for about 10 minutes. When it's bedtime, they tend to be more open for conversation. This is a great time to bond with your pre-teen. I start by asking highs and lows. "What was your low for today? What was your high?" It works. It may take a few days, but it will strengthen your relationship. As long as you don't use it to lecture!!!

I'm 27, but when I was 11, 12, my mom would do just as you advised. And it worked. If I had been worrying about something all day, just those 10 minutes of her sitting on my bed with me and talking would get me to loosen my burden. Great tip.
