How to lock someone out who has a key
Depending on which way the door swings, you can prevent someone from opening a deadbolt by simply loosening one of the screws enough so that it interferes with the thumb-turn and prevents the bolt from being withdrawn. However, keep a screwdriver handy in case of fire!

Use extra plastic toys to label garden rows
My daughter's surplus, inexpensive plastic toys make great row markers for identifying different vegetable rows. This allows her to feel like she's making a contribution to our garden and not simply disposing of extra toys. For example, simply mark the vegetable name with a Sharpie on the toy and embed it in the soil at the end of the row. Make sure to secure it in the soil as you would any other marker. Kids love it!

The 80/20 rule applies to your closet
In business, people are always quoting the 80/20 rule where 80% of your profit comes from 20% of your clients. In your closet right now you probably only wear 20% of the clothes hanging there. If you can identify that 20% and give away or sell the remainder, your life will be easier and someone will get clothes that will be worn.

Ginger is a natural sore throat remedy
Slice a ginger down to the size of a candy. Wash and peel it off. Put it in your mouth as if you are eating a candy, but don't actually eat it! Bite a little into the ginger to bring out juice. You'll instantly feel relief in your throat. After about 3 minutes, throw away the ginger. Repeat as many times during the day. You can?t overdose on ginger. This technique is especially helpful for lecturers, singers, or anyone else who needs to use their vocal chords for a long time.
