The easy way to mulch
When mulching plants you have just planted, place the pots they came in on top of the plant. Dump mulch around the pots to the desired depth. When smooth, remove the pots and bring mulch closer to the plants without touching the stems. Fast and easy mulch application with little effort.

How to grow a dense rose bush
If your rose plant only grows a few small buds a year, start chopping the thinner stems off. This makes the rose plant "think" the branches are weak and breakable, so it will start growing stronger with more rose buds along with thorns. The more consistently you repeat this, the more buds your roses will develop.

An apple tree will reach full bloom when the soil temperature is about a constant 55 degrees, which is the same temperature that tomatoes need to be planted. Plant tomatoes when the apple tree is in full bloom.

Cheap and easy cultivator for the garden
Garden cultivators can be expensive. Take an old pallet and drill a series of 5/8 inch holes in it. I drilled in a ā€˜V’ shape. Inset about 16 landscaping spikes (about $6 from the home store) in the holes. Secure the spikes by drilling some scrape pine boards to the back side. Secure the pallet to the lawn tractor and drag behind to cultivate the garden. To cultivate deeper, just secure some cinder blocks to the pallet.

Small easy greenhouses to start seedlings
Take a clear milk jug or a 2 liter bottle soda bottle and cut the bottom off. If you are starting seeds inside, start the seeds in the bottom part of the jug and place the top of the jug on top to act as a greenhouse. If you are starting seedlings outside, place the top part of the jug on top of the seedlings to act as a greenhouse.

How to grow fruits in interesting shapes
Plant a fruit-bearing plant or tree. When you first start to see fruits develop, place a plastic or glass container in the shape that you like over the fruit. As the fruit grows, it will eventually conform to the shape of the container. Make sure it is a container you can easily remove later on. I also recommend using a transparent container/mold so that you can see how the fruit is growing.
